Pecky Cypress Ceilings by The Artistree

05.01.2015.

Recently The Artistree team has completed work on a “Key West” inspired home located in the Paradise Key neighborhood of Jacksonville Beach. The builder, Glenn Layton Homes installed the untreated lumber called Pecky Cypress for the ceilings in certain parts of the home. The Pecky Cypress ceiling was installed in the interior hallway, exterior front entryway, and back lanai of this new home.

William Meyer, owner of  The Artistree, was hired to apply a technique which would give the wood a naturally aged look that would occur if the process took place over many years in its natural habitat. The week long project covered approximately 1,000 sq. feet and turned out beautifully.

The homeowners inspiration came from homes designed by world renown architect Addison Mizner in Palm Beach, Florida.
